Network interface card 



Network interface card is a communication device that is used to connect a device to a network. Network interface card (NIC). NIC manage the transmission of data, install information to and from the device. NIC contains a unique address called MAC address. Exchange for media access control. It is also called Ethernet, physical, hardware or adapter address. MAC address is 6 bytes in length and it is displayed in 12 hexadecimal digits. The first 6 digits are used to indicate the vendor of the network interface card and it is called organizationally unique identifier. The last 6 numbers form a unique value for each and NIC assigned by a vendor. Provides a way to distinguish one NIC from any other NIC. Network cards are available in different styles. Desktop computer is an adaptor card. It has a path to connect the cable. Card for mobile computer is in the form of USB network adaptor, express Card module etc.
Wireless network card is used to transmit data wirelessly. It usually has an antenna that can be positioned properly for the best signal. An amplifier can be used for increasing the signal strength. Some network cards spot wired as well as wireless network.

Network bridge 




It can be used in computer networks to interconnect to local area networks and to separate network segments. Segment is a section of a network separated by switches, routers  and  bridges. The bridge is a a layer 2 two device in the OSI model. It uses MAC address information for making decisions to forward data packets. It only forward the data that needs to be sent across the bridge to the adjacent network segment. This makes it possible to segment the network data traffic. The source MAC address is stored in the bridge tables as soon as host transmit a data packet on LAN. The bridge monitor the data on sports to check for an association between the destination MAC address of the Ethernet frame to any of the host connected to its ports. In Association indicates that the destination MAC address for a post is connected to one of the ports on the bridge. Station is found, forward to the port. Computer one sends a message to computer 5. Detect an association between the destination MAC address for computer 5 and port to. Forward the data from computer want to computer five in LAN B through port 2. Forward the data packets only when there is an association this capability is used to isolate that a traffic in each segment. Suppose that computer 1 and computer 2 in local area network. A Generate a lot of data traffic. but B will not see this because B has no association.
